Publisher's Pick - Fun Things To Do In The Mountains (Jan-Feb 2009)
Little Bee Thai is one of those great places that locals frequent and tourists seek. Located inside an Exxon station, it could be easily overlooked--and that would be a shame. Honest.
The chef, Took, infuses the vibrant flavors of her native land in every dish she creates. From her neat and tidy kitchen Took prepares fresh appetizers, soups, salads and entrées while you wait. Better yet, call ahead for pick-up.
For those who understand firsthand the craving for authentic Thai food, this place will undoubtedly become an instant favorite. Tom Kha Gai, Chicken Satay, Panang Curry, fresh rolls, Phad Thai and a couple of dozen or more selections await! Don't skip the appetizers--the prices are so reasonable there is no reason to forgo such a tasty addition to your meal. Lunch entrées are around $5-6 and dinner, around $7-8. Sound too good to be true? We thought so, too. Enjoy!

...There are two tables inside so it is clearly intended to be a take-out place... The lunch entree was just under $5.00. Wondering if lunch was too good to be true, we returned for dinner. Prices for dinner were a slight $2.00 higher, unlike the considerable evening surcharge found in many other places. It was all very good. For lunch we had Thai basil with chicken and Panang Curry with beef. It was made fresh as we watched and tasted great. For dinner, we had Spicy Thai Noodles and Phad Thai. That too was prepared in front of us with fresh ingredients and tasted every bit as good as lunch... You will love it.
...We promised that we would tell people and I'd really like her to see how well news of such a good person making very good food can get around. We are also interested in making sure that she stays in business so we can keep eating there for a long time to come. South Asheville has a shortage of good restaurants. We don't want to lose this one.

I heard all about this place and I was nearby, hungry and craving Thai so I went--and all I can say is "RUN! Don't walk!" I tried a Phad cashew chicken dish and have been back for more over and over again. Now whenever I get anywhere near the place my car seems to veer right into the parking lot!
